Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia came under fire from numerous former players this offseason, including cornerback Darius Slay, who said he lost all respect for Patricia.

But Lions wide receiver Danny Amendola—who was already familiar with Patricia from their days in New England—is trying to make the most of his time with Patricia in Detroit:

“This is my sixth NFL team in 13 seasons and played for all different types of coaches and in all different types of offenses and methods,” said Amendola, according to Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com. “So this is, what coach Patricia has to offer is something that I eagerly look for because I know I'll get the best version of me.”

Amendola initially joined the Lions last year and played in 15 games in 2019, hauling in 62 receptions for 678 yards and a touchdown.

The 34-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Texas Tech, went undrafted in 2009 but eventually landed with the St. Louis Rams as a free agent.

He spent the first four years of his career with the Rams, with his most productive campaign in St. Louis coming in 2010 when he caught 85 passes for 689 yards and three scores. That remains his best season to this day.

Following his tenure with the Rams, Amendola linked up with the Patriots in 2013 and resided in New England for five seasons. He was consistent, but he helped the Pats win a couple of Super Bowls and made some big plays along the way.

The Texas native then spent one season with the Miami Dolphins before signing with Detroit.
