Members of the Detroit Lions secondary were utterly stunned when the team announced that they had traded safety Quandre Diggs to the Seattle Seahawks.

Cornerback Darius Slay, in particular, has voiced his displeasure with the move. Slay sent out numerous tweets after the trade was completed on Tuesday:

Of course, Slay understands that the NFL is a business. Which is why he declared that ā€œnobody is safeā€ in the Detroit locker room (via Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com).

ā€œIt basically say it don't matter who you is,ā€Ā LionsĀ cornerbackĀ Darius SlayĀ said Thursday, per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. ā€œNo matter how much you put in, at the end of the day it's a business so that's how I just look at it.Ā Nobody's safe, in my opinion.ā€

ā€œWe've been playing together five years,ā€ Slay said. ā€œShoot, team captain, so I mean, for that to happen it's kind of crazy but I guess that's the business part of it. That was crazy, though.ā€

Slay has had his reasons to be frustrated with the Lions organization as of late. He did not participate in voluntary workouts and was on the brink of a holdout in the hopes of signing a new contract.

Detroit began the season 2-0-1, but they have since lost three straight games. They were victims of a last-minute drive against both the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers, with the Packers being gifted an illegal hands to the face penalty that set up a game-winning field goal.

The Packers and Minnesota Vikings have run away from the Chicago Bears and the Lions in the NFC North, andā€“if the Diggs trade is any indicationā€“it seems as though the Lions are already planning for next year.
