The Detroit Lions haven't shown any indication that they want to trade Darius Slay this season even with teams inquiring about the playmaking corner. According to Mike Garafolo, Slay is unlikely to be traded before Tuesday's trade deadline.

The reason that a deal involving Slay is unlikely to take place is due to the Lions' asking price for their No. 1 cornerback. On Monday, Chris Mortensen reported that the Philadelphia Eagles were making a strong push to acquire Slay.

Despite the Eagles' attempts, Detroit seems adamant about keeping Slay unless they're absolutely blown away by an offer. With that being said, it may take a Jalen Ramsey ransom to lure Slay from the Lions.

The rumors of Slay possibly being traded began when the team shipped Quandre Diggs to the Seattle Seahawks. Diggs, a close friend of Slay's and captain on the defense, was traded for a fifth-round pick.

Following the move by the Lions, Slay expressed his frustration with the move and exclaimed that “nobody was safe” from being traded—including himself.

The Lions' All-Pro cornerback is under contract through the 2020 season and is set to make $22.55 million in that span. But at 28-years-old, there are undoubtedly teams who would be more than willing to take on his contract.

At the same time, Detroit would like to mend their relationship with Slay and keep him as part of their future. Whether they are able to achieve that remains to be seen.

Regardless, the team's former second-round pick is on track to remain with the team that drafted him until the end of the season. That is unless a team can quickly come up with an irrefutable offer before the 4 pm EST deadline on Tuesday.
