He's currently a top Twitter trending topic for a good reason. Danny Amendola just found himself a new team by agreeing to a deal with the Detroit Lions.

According to NBC Sports, Amendola's contract was one that came after his failure to reunite with the New England Patriots (something, he'd said, he was hoping for after he was released from the Miami Dolphins). Assuming all goes well with his physical, however — which shouldn't be a problem, and something he's currently taking — Amendola will be with the Lions for the 2019 season.

Amendola will be paid nicely for this turn with the Lions, as his deal has a base salary of $4.5 million and could be worth as much as $5.75 million.

From NBC Sports:

“Amendola’s never played for the Lions before, but there are some familiar faces in Detroit. Head coach Matt Patricia was the defensive coordinator in New England when Amendola was with the Patriots and General Manager Bob Quinn was in the New England front office when Amendola joined the team.”

So it's worth noting that while Amendola isn't on a team that he's played with before, he's with team members that he's played with before, and coaches that know how to play to his various strengths while shoring up his weaknesses.

Amendola would join Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay at receiver for Detroit and gets a jump on a slot receiver free agent group that includes Cole Beasley, Jamison Crowder, and Adam Humphries. That's certainly a rather enviable lineup, and we'll keep you posted of course on how well he does in this setting.
