Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields had one forgettable performance in his team's Week 3 road matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

In his first career NFL start, Fields struggled to get much going over drives, as he was sacked nine times and finished with a mere one net passing yard. More so, Fields hurt his hand during the late stages of the contest, although he has gone to feature in practices this week ahead of Chicago's upcoming home game against the Detroit Lions.

Many have overanalyzed and critiqued Fields' showing in his first career start in the league, but for Lions head coach Dan Campbell, he did see several positives when he evaluated film of the game.

In speaking ahead of the Lions' matchup with the Bears, Campbell noted that he is expecting to see either Andy Dalton or Nick Foles under center for Chicago in Week 4. But if Fields gets the call to feature in this key early season divisional clash, then Campbell sees that the Lions will need to spotlight several aspects of his play that were on display in Week 3.

“He had some struggles early but I would say there were signs of life at the end of that tape when you watch him, some of the things where, now maybe it wasn’t always the right read but like he’s pulling the trigger, he’s not waiting in the pocket,” Campbell said. “He’s trying to diagnose quicker. They’re getting him out on the perimeter, so there was some things to where, OK, I think they probably gathered some information on things that can help him. And so those are the things we got to be ready for.”

Bears head coach Matt Nagy still has not made the final call on who will start at quarterback for the upcoming matchup against the Lions.

Nonetheless, Campbell will be in for a notable challenge regardless of who will be under center for Chicago in Week 4, especially as the Lions are aiming to avoid a lowly 0-4 start to the season.
