The Detroit Lions have placed wide receiver Tommylee Lewis on the physically unable to perform list, according to the team.

The Lions signed Lewis as a free agent earlier this offseason.

Lewis spent the 2018 campaign with the New Orleans Saints and is most known for being the receiver who was blatantly interfered with by Los Angeles Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman only to see no flag thrown during the fourth quarter of this past year's NFC Championship Game, a no-call that many felt cost the Saints a trip to the Super Bowl.

On the season overall, Lewis played in just seven games due to injuries, logging eight catches for 60 yards.

The 26-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Northern Illinois, went undrafted but eventually landed with New Orleans in 2016. He went on to appear in 12 contests with the Saints during his rookie year, finishing with 14 receptions for 160 yards.

Then, the following year, Lewis participated in 15 games and snared 14 balls for 115 yards.

Meanwhile, Detroit is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which it won just six games and finished in last place in the NFC North division, marking its first last-place finish since 2012 when it went 4-12.

The Lions have not exactly been one of the NFL's most successful franchises over the last couple of decades, as Detroit has made just three playoff appearances since 2000 and has not won a playoff game since the 1991 campaign, when it made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game before losing to the Washington Redskins.
