The war of words between the Detroit Lions and Calvin Johnson isn't going to stop anytime soon. With neither side willing to budge out of their statements, fans can expect the standoff to last quite a while.

Detroit released its latest statement on the situation in an attempt to bury the issue in the past and move on. Johnson and his supporters won't likely find the statement as something that drives the narrative forward for all of the parties involved.

“We respect the privacy of individual players’ medical situations and take great pride in the extensive work done by our medical staff and executive team to ensure we follow appropriate protocols with respect to player health and safety,” the Lions said in a written statement, per M Live. “The well-being of our players will continue to be an organizational priority.”

Johnson, affectionately known as Megatron to fans, reportedly suffered nine concussions during his entire NFL career. He had stinging words to say to his former employers.

As revealed by Sports Illustrated's Michael Rosenberg, he had to play through the concussion he suffered against the Minnesota Vikings.

If the allegations presented against them are proven, there's no doubt that the Lions will pay dearly for their errors. However, they will continue to maintain that they did nothing wrong until proven otherwise.
