The struggling Detroit Lions found a breather when they snagged a 34-16 win against the cellar-dwelling Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6 proceedings. The visiting team came out of the gates with a dominant offensive attack to gain a 17-3 lead after the first half.

The Lions managed to protect their lead and rode their momentum until the final frame to secure their second victory of the season. Lions safety Duron Harmon spoke on the encounter and further stressed the importance of consistency and sustaining the level of play in their coming games:

“It wasn’t necessarily a statement,” he said, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “We just knew we could play better and we just needed to find a way to play better and I think we did that. I mean, I wouldn’t say statement because doing it for one game means nothing. I mean, we got to find ways to be consistent and that’s what have to do now.”

Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford finally got his first touchdown pass of the season which helped built their early lead and ultimately finished with 223 passing yards on 19/31 passes completed. Rookie rusher D'Andre Swift had a huge night and ran a career-high of 116 yards on 14 carries along with two rushing touchdowns.

Veteran ball-carrier Adrian Peterson contributed 40 yards on 15 touches and a touchdown which helped him notch his 82nd game with at least a touchdown run to break a fourth-place tie in league history with Hall of Famer Walter Payton. Tight end T.J. Hockenson also added an end zone score in his team's dominant showing.

The victory was crucial for Motor City's squad as they improved to a 2-3 record in the early stages of the season. The Lions will aim to carry over their performance as they go for a second-straight win when they visit the Atlanta Falcons in a Week 7 matchup.
