The Detroit Lions are among the teams that have already made some notable changes following the 2017 NFL season. However, that seems to be the mantra after another disappointing finish.

As a result, there have been rumors regarding the Lions' current personnel on offense. According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Detroit is reportedly fielding offers for tight end Eric Ebron:

A name to watch in coming days: Lions’ TE Eric Ebron, whose name surfaced in trade discussions at last weekend’s combine, per league source. Lions were listening.

There are plenty of reasons for Lions fans to be upset with the rumors. Ebron has shown plenty of promise at times in the passing game. As a tight end, he is as sure-handed as they come after dropping just three passes last season.

However, he has hardly been the playmaker Detroit hoped they were getting after taking him with the 10th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. To make matters worse, they selected Ebron ahead of future NFL stars like Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald and New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Needless to say, they have not gotten much bang for their buck over the past four seasons.

Regardless, Ebron is still one of the more solid receiving tight ends in the league. However, it seems new head coach Matt Patricia is adamant about establishing the run game in Detroit, which will likely call for a much more consistent run-blocker on the line. Ebron still has plenty of time to grow at just 24 years old.
