The Detroit Lions will apparently have their star wide receiver back on the field in Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Golden Tate suffered a shoulder injury earlier this month against the New Orleans Saints and now appears to be ready to return.

According to ESPN, Tate plans to get back on the gridiron on Sunday.

Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate, listed as questionable for Sunday night's game vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers because of a shoulder injury, plans to play, a source tells ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Now that the NFC North division is wide open with the Green Bay Packers losing superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the prospect of the Lions returning to the playoffs is looking much better. Detroit is sporting a 3-3 record heading into Week 8 against Pittsburgh and will be that much more potent offensively with the return of Tate.

Tate has replaced Calvin Johnson as Matthew Stafford's favorite target in the Lions offense. The 29-year-old has caught 36 passes this season for 363 yards and two touchdowns thus far.

Although the Packers were thought to be the toughest opponent in the NFC North, the Minnesota Vikings will also pose a challenge for Detroit. Minnesota is 6-2 on the season, but like the Packers, the team is dealing with health issues at quarterback with Sam Bradford's knee injury.

If the Lions can get rolling, Stafford and company may have a legitimate chance of winning the division title and punching their ticket to the playoffs as a threat in the NFC.
