It didn't take long for the first ejection to happen in the 2020 NFL season during the game between the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears. In a seemingly peculiar situation, Jamie Collins was ejected versus the Bears after making contact with an official, per Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports.

After a play early in the contest, it appears that Collins was attempting to demonstrate what happened to him. The veteran linebacker proceeded to lower his head and insert it into the chest of the referee. Due to contacting the official, the Lions received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and Collins was ejected.

Collins signed with Detroit earlier this offseason, reuniting him with Matt Patricia. Patrica and Collins had previous experience together when both of them were with the New England Patriots earlier in their careers.

Just a season ago, in his second stint with the Patriots, Collins was an extremely versatile defender for Bill Belichick. The former second-round pick tallied 81 tackles, a career-high seven sacks, and three forced fumbles.

He would also produce seven pass breakups and three interceptions in coverage. Above all, Collins was crucial in New England recording the No. 1 ranked defense in the league last season.

Seeing that the Lions gave Collins a three-year, $30 million deal, they expect Collins to be one of the leaders of their defense. However, in his first game with the team, he's already been removed after an avoidable incident with a referee. Following his exit from the game, we could see more of Reggie Ragland or Jahlani Tavai for the rest of the game.
