Detroit Lions wide receiver Jermaine Kearse is coming off of a disastrous 2018 campaign with the New York Jets in which he played 14 games and finished with just 37 catches for 371 yards and a touchdown.

It was his least productive season since his second year in the league back in 2013, and now, in a new environment, Kearse is simply looking to move forward:

“It's just something that I want to move on from,” Kearse said, according to Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com. “It was just an unfortunate year. We had some changes that happened and just things didn't work out. Ready to just move on and get back on the field and show what I can do, what I did two years before and be able to add on to that and just let last year go. Last year was just an unfortunate situation that happened.”

The 2018 campaign was in stark contrast to Kearse's first season with the Jets in 2017, when he hauled in 65 receptions for 810 yards and five scores. But obviously, something was not right for Kearse in New York, so perhaps signing with the Lions will rejuvenate him:

“I was just being patient and letting the process handle itself and (allowing) my agent and the front office to do their jobs,” Kearse said. “And we were able to come up with something where we both felt comfortable and really like.”

Kearse, who played his collegiate football at the University of Washington, went undrafted but eventually landed with the Seattle Seahawks. He spent the first five seasons of his NFL career with the Seahawks before joining the Jets in 2017.
