Detroit Lions wide receiver Kenny Golladay suffered a concussion on Sunday in his team's Week 17 NFL regular-season finale against NFC North division rival Green Bay Packers. According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Olivia Reiner on Twitter, the 26-year-old wideout left the game and is out for the remainder of the bout for the head-trauma injury.

The 6-foot-4 receiver Golladay, in his third season in the NFL—all with the Lions—will finish the 2019 campaign with a career-best numbers in 15-plus games. A third-round selection out of Northern Illinois in the 2017 draft, Golladay recorded 1,190 receiving yards on 65 receptions for 11 touchdowns in 16 games this season.

With Golladay knocked out, the Lions with undrafted rookie quarterback David Blough under center are trying to play spoiler against the Packers. Their dreaded foe can clinch a first-round bye today should they defeat Detroit; however, the Lions can make Aaron Rodgers and company play next week during the Wild Card round with an upset victory.

Golladay is in his third year of a four-year rookie contract, but he hasn't seriously discussed a contract extension with the Motown franchise just yet.

“We haven’t talked about it,” Golladay said, via the team’s website. “I’m sure we will the next few months or so. Everything will work itself out. I’m very grateful to be here. [Detroit] definitely took a shot on me and that would be a good way to repay them.”

Golladay ends his 2019 season with career-best numbers, but the Lions once again miss out on a trip to the postseason and have to settle with hurting the Packers' chances at winning the NFC.
