The Detroit Lions will be going into 2019 with Darren Bevell as their new offensive coordinator, and running back Kerryon Johnson is excited about the idea of playing for a run-heavy coach.

“I mean, we all know what he likes to do,” said Johnson, according to Kyle Meinke of MLive.com. “We all know what he brings to the table.”

Bevell served as offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks from 2011 through 2017, and during that span, the Seahawks had a top-five rushing attack in four of those seven years.

“I mean, that’s good news for me,” added Johnson. “But we’re a complete team. We’re trying to be a complete offense. We’re trying to be complete players. We understand we can’t run the ball 100 percent of the time, we can’t throw the ball 100 percent of the time. We’re going to be as balanced as possible, and score as many points (as we can).”

Johnson is coming off of a rookie campaign in which he carried the ball 118 times for 641 yards and three touchdowns, averaging an impressive 5.4 yards per attempt. In addition, he hauled in 32 receptions for 213 yards and a score.

The 21-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Auburn University, was originally selected by the Lions in the second round (43rd pick overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.

If Bevell's history is any indication, Johnson will be seeing a lot more touches next season.

Detroit won just six games this past season, missing the playoffs for the second straight year. The Lions have not won a playoff game since the 1991-92 campaign.
