Eight weeks after he tore his right meniscus, Detroit Lions activated running back Kerryon Johnson from the injured reserve on Saturday. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Lions are diving straight into the water, as he's expected to receive his full share of carries along Bo Scarbrough against the Denver Broncos.

The Lions are trotting out the second-year rusher despite sitting at a 3-10-1 record. However, Johnson, an Auburn product, isn't looking at the playing time as meaningful, especially considering the time missed.

“For me, as stupid as some people may see it, you know, for me, I like to play, man,” Johnson said on Dec. 13, via Michael Rothstein of ESPN. “I did all this work in the offseason, did all this work in the summer and then I didn't do it to play five games. Obviously my goal every year is to play a full season. Two seasons down, I'm 0-for-2. But getting the seven or six (games), whatever it might be, is better than where I'm at right now.”

In six games played, Johnson has 308 yards and two touchdowns on 92 rush attempts, good for 3.3 yards per carry. His production does not mirror what many figured would be a big year for the 2018 second-round selection.

As a rookie, Johnson played just 10 games. He impressed in his inaugural season, however, as in 118 attempts, he tallied 641 yards (5.4 yards per carry) and three touchdowns.

The last two games of the season will offer Johnson the ability to get back on track and feeling confident entering 2020.
