Detroit Lions starting quarterback Matthew Stafford has become the consummate pro over the years. Spending his entire NFL playing career as a member of the Lions, the seasoned signal caller is currently gearing up for his 11th season atop the highest level.

As a result of his continued success on the field in addition to his strength and poise away from the gridiron as his wife deals with some significant health concerns, Stafford recently received some serious praise from Lions head coach Matt Patricia.

“Lions coach Matt Patricia called Stafford an ‘unbelievable professional' for the way he has managed his life away from the team and his responsibilities to the team during the past several months. Stafford thanked the Lions staff, front office and owners for being supportive and allowing him to have a flexible schedule as he worked his way back into a more regular routine at a pace that worked for his family,” reads an article from Dan Murphy of ESPN.

However, Stafford doesn't appear primed to take such praise lightly as the veteran quarterback continues to hone his craft with OTAs now officially underway in the “Motor City.”

“It's not old hat. It's a bunch of new stuff,” Stafford recently told ESPN. “It's stuff I have to really dive deep into and make sure I'm on top of my game because I'm getting questions right and left from those guys and trying to help them out as much as I can. That's not to say I'm forgetting everything that's going on back home, but I for sure am locked in when I'm here.”

The Lions originally selected Stafford with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft out of Georgia.
