Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford missed the final eight games of the 2019 campaign due to a back injury, but it appears that Stafford is just fine now.

Stafford's wife, Kelly, mentioned in an Instagram post on Monday morning that her husband's back has been “completely healed” since January.

Prior to going down with the injury, Stafford was in the middle of an incredible season, as he had thrown for 2,499 yards, 19 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 64.3 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 106.

Since then, trade rumors have swirled around the signal-caller, with a report surfacing last week that Stafford himself wanted out of Detroit. However, his wife and his agent quickly put that talk to rest, and Lions general manager Bob Quinn has said that both sides are happy with the situation moving forward.

Stafford, who played his collegiate football at the University of Georgia, was originally selected by Detroit with the first overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft.

He had a dreadful rookie campaign, throwing 13 touchdowns and 20 picks in 10 starts, and injuries limited him to just three games the following year.

Then, in 2011, Stafford broke out, finishing with 5,038 yards and 41 touchdowns.

Stafford has yet to replicate that production ever since, although he appeared to be on pace to having a similar season this past year before the back issues knocked him out.

Even still, the 32-year-old has remained a solid contributor for the Lions throughout his NFL tenure, and from 2011 through 2018, Stafford did not miss a start.

Detroit went just 3-12-1 in 2019.
