Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has continued to deal with a lingering right-hand injury over the last couple of weeks.

Stafford was able to take the field against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers despite the ailment and appears to be on track to play in Week 15 against the Chicago Bears. According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, he voiced that his hand may feel well enough to not have it wrapped up in tape.

“I don’t know yet,” Stafford said. “I wouldn’t think so, but I don’t know. Possibly.”

He had worn tape against the Buccaneers in a game in which he completed 36-of-44 passes for 381 yards while tossing a touchdown and a pair of interceptions in a 24-21 win. The fact that he was able to play through the game without any setbacks should bode well for the condition of his hand moving forward, especially in the final stretch of the regular season.

Matthew Stafford has much experience playing through hand injuries, as he played the final four games of the 2016 season with a splint on the tip of his middle finger. He also played three games with a glove in the 2011 campaign after he broke his right index finger.

Detroit is in the thick of the playoff picture sitting at a 7-6 record with three games remaining, only a game out of the final wild-card spot held by the Atlanta Falcons. The Lions close out the season facing the Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, and Green Bay Packers.
