Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford gave an emotional statement amid a tough 2020 campaign for the franchise. The former Georgia standout vowed to continued to give it his all and appear on the field as often as he can for his teammates and the organization.

The Lions' Twitter page posted his inspirational speech:

Stafford is dealing with multiple injuries, including a painful rib injury featuring torn cartilage. Instead of just packing it in for the season, the veteran quarterback is trying to gut it out, surprisingly playing against the Tennessee Titans in their Week 15 matchup. He generated 252 passing yards on 22-of-32 passes completed along with a passing touchdown.

Even with Stafford playing and putting forth an admirable performance, the Lions had no answer for the Titans' potent offensive attack led by Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry. A 46-25 defeat in Week 15 ultimately extended Detroit's losing skid to two games and dropped the team to a 5-9 record, officially eliminating them from playoff contention.

The Lions struggled to generate any momentum all throughout their campaign after battling several injuries to their key players. In response to the team's poor showing on the field, the Lions went in a new direction and recently parted ways with head coach Matt Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn.

Hopefully, Motor City will be able to have a successful rebuild and manage to bounce back in the coming seasons to give Matthew Stafford a shot at a title before he enters the twilight zone of his tenured career.
