The Detroit Lions are going to need all the points they can possibly score on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, but it may be tougher if Matthew Stafford is inactive. After appearing on the injury report on Friday, Stafford is listed as questionable versus the Chiefs per Ian Rapoport.

Stafford has practiced all week with no limitations, so his appearance on the injury comes as a surprise. The veteran quarterback has an issue with his hip that has made his status for Sunday uncertain.

The severity of Stafford's hip injury is unknown at this time, but if it prevents him from playing Sunday, the Lions are in trouble. With Stafford under center this year, Detroit has gotten off to a 2-0-1 start.

Just three weeks into the season, Stafford has looked very comfortable in Darrell Bevell's offensive system. The Lions' franchise quarterback has aired it out for 831 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions in his first three games.

Detroit is already just four wins away from its win total in 2018, but its biggest test will come in Week 4. The Chiefs will come to town to face the Lions in Patrick Mahomes' first indoor NFL game.

Mahomes and the Chiefs' offense have averaged 487 yards (second-best in NFL) and 33.7 points per game (third-most in NFL). In light of that, Detroit is going to want its starting quarterback in uniform in this game.

There are no signs pointing toward Stafford missing Sunday's game, but if he does, the Lions likely won't be undefeated anymore heading into Week 5.
