Detriot Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has been medically cleared according to general manager Dan Quinn. Stafford has been rehabbing from a back injury but he is 100 percent good to go. Quinn said whenever offseason workouts do start, Stafford will be 100 percent ready to go.

“Health wise, he’s good to go,” Quinn said via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “He’s cleared medically from that standpoint.”

This is good news for the Lions who were a lost cause last year without Stafford. David Blough and Jeff Driskel were the two guys tasked with filling in for Stafford. Blough went 0-5 in his starts while Driskel went 0-3 during his opportunities.

Even with their franchise QB good to go, there have to be some questions about if the Lions will select a quarterback in the 2020 draft. It would be quite the shock if they selected someone with the third overall pick, but if they spent a second or third-round pick that might make more sense.

Depending on if Jalen Hurts is still available, he might make a lot of sense for the Lions depending if they are looking to move on from the veteran QB the next couple of years.

For the 2020 season, it's hard to imagine anyone besides Stafford will be the starting quarterback. Everyone knows what Stafford can do when he is healthy on the field. The next thing is still about surrounding him with the right talent. At some point, Stafford has to lead the Lions to a playoff win, doesn't he?

The hope is 2020 is finally that year.
