The Detroit Lions are in desperate need of leaders on the roster and Dan Campbell believes they got a valuable one in Michael Brockers. When speaking about the leadership that Brockers brings to Detroit, Campbell said that Brockers is capable of wielding Thor's hammer.

“I’d say this about Brockers,” Lions coach Dan Campbell said Friday, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “He’s probably one of the few in this league that can wield the hammer of Thor. So we’re real excited about that.”

As part of a trade to shed salary this offseason, the Los Angeles Rams dealt Brockers to the Lions in exchange for a 2023 seventh-round pick. After joining Detroit, Brockers showed his commitment to the organization by inking an extension with the Lions through the 2022 season.

During his time with the Rams, Brockers experienced a ton of losing early in his career when Jeff Fisher was the head coach of the franchise. But when Sean McVay arrived in Los Angeles, Brockers finally got an opportunity to play in the postseason, including a Super Bowl run in 2018.

Given his leadership when things weren't going great on the Rams, Campbell believes that Brockers gives the Lions a valuable piece moving forward. Besides his leadership, Brockers also fills a void in the interior of Detroit's defensive line after logging five sacks in the 2020 season.

It is invaluable to have a veteran player who can rally the team when things go awry during the season. And with the Lions amid a rebuild, Campbell is confident that Michael Brockers is exactly the type of player he wants leading the team behind closed doors.
