The Detroit Lions were unable to get back into the win column following a loss to the Chicago Bears. Fortunately, it appears wide receiver Marvin Jones may have dodged a bullet.

Jones was forced to exit the game in the second quarter due to a knee injury. According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, he is listed as day-to-day:

Tests showed that Lions’ WR Marvin Jones’ ACL and MCL are intact, but he did sustain a bone bruise and will be considered day to day, per source.

This is certainly an encouraging update for Detroit. Their receiving corps is already thin following the departure of Golden Tate to the Philadelphia Eagles. The last thing they need is one of their best pass-catchers to miss any time.

Although Jones is currently listed as day-to-day, there is good reason to believe he will be available for this week's matchup versus the Carolina Panthers. He had attempted to get back into the game against the Bears, however, trainers denied his request. This indicates that he could be good to go with the extra week of rest.

With Tate gone, Jones is undoubtedly quarterback Matthew Stafford's top target. He has registered 35 receptions for 508 yards and five touchdowns this season. Although he has not been very efficient with his targets, it is clear that he has developed quite a rapport with Stafford. The Lions will need all the help they can get when they attempt to get back into the win column against a Carolina team looking to do the same.
