The Detroit Lions are coming off yet another forgettable season, but at least one rookie is showing great excitement for what lays ahead of him with the team in his first season in the pros. We're talking about wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who's looking forward to making a tremendous impact on the Lions' passing attack.

In a recent interview,  the former USC Trojans downfield stud issued the following quote, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press:

“I’m excited to be here,” St. Brown said. “I’m excited to work and I’m ready to take someone’s job.”

St. Brown feels as though he has something to prove not only to the Lions but to the other 31 teams that passed on him in the 2021 NFL Draft, where he was taken in the fourth round, 112th overall, by Detroit. Then again, this year's draft was laden with plenty of talented wide receiver prospects, including the likes of Ja'Marr Chase, Jaylen Waddle, and DeVonta Smith.

As for his chances of becoming among the primary options downfield by Detroit quarterback Jared Goff, it seems St. Brown has a legitimate shot at it.

With Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones both switching teams this offseason and Danny Amendola currently a free agent, the Lions are left with just Quentin Cephus as the only wideout in Detroit who was inside the top five in receiving yards with the team in 2020.

Before jumping to the pros, St. Brown spent three years with the Trojans, where he had career numbers of 2,270 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns on 178 receptions.
