Following last Sunday's 34-22 loss to the Chicago Bears, Detriot Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones has been dealing with a bothersome knee injury that has kept him out of practice throughout the week.

The initial belief was that he has a bone bruise with while both his ACL and MCL were both still intact. However, Jones has decided to get a second opinion on his knee in order to get a better assessment of the situation, according to Michael Rothstein of ESPN.

Detroit Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones is getting a second opinion on his injured right knee, a source told ESPN.

There isn't any significant concern with the injury, but rather a concerted effort to get this entire matter sorted out to figure out the full extent of the injury. Jones has been a primary factor in the passing game throughout his tenure with the Lions as he has recorded 35 catches for 508 receiving yards and five touchdowns in nine games played this season. He has notched one 100 receiving yard performance this season that saw him tally seven catches for 117 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Seattle Seahawks.

If he were to miss any time due to the injury, it would shift more the responsibility in the passing game over to Kenny Golladay to step in as the receiving option. Golladay has recorded 39 catches for 601 receiving yards and four touchdowns this season. Meanwhile, TJ Jones would have to step into a more prominent role while it could see the running game factor in the equation more greatly.

Rookie Kerryon Johnson has provided much-needed stability out of the backfield in the running game while Theo Reddick has been an asset in the passing attack. There should be more clarity on this situation involving Jones in the next few days.
