LIV Golf has taken the sport by storm in recent weeks, as they've been successful in luring some of the game's greatest golfers over from the PGA, such as Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson. Mickelson and Johnson's moves were controversial to say the least, with the PGA's third major, the US Open, around the corner.

On Tuesday, the United States Golf Association announced that Mickelson and Johnson would not be barred from participating at the US Open, which starts on June 16, because of their LIV Golf ties. Perhaps that announcement has reassured other golfers. Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Reed became the latest to join the rival tour, per Golf Correspondent James Corrigan.

It marks a notable change in tune from DeChambeau, who expressed his loyalty to the PGA just last week. Perhaps the US Open's announcement made the 2020 champ more secure in his PGA status amid his interest in LIV Golf?

At any rate, it's clear that Reed and DeChambeau's actions are a step back for the PGA. Rickie Fowler has reportedly also made the switch. The Tour has pulled out all the stops in an effort to prevent things like this happening, though it appears that LIV Golf's financial firepower might be too much to hold off.

Will any more PGA stars follow in the footsteps, of Mickelson, Johnson, DeChambeau, Reed and Fowler?
