Atletico Madrid recently opened the doors for Saúl Ñíguez's exit as they recently signed another midfielder in Rodrigo De Paul from Udinese. Premier League standouts Liverpool are reportedly keen on the Spaniard.

The Reds are looking to find a quality midfielder to replace Gini Wijnaldum, who signed for Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer this summer.

Saúl has been one of the bigger names linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks. The rumors seem to be heating up as Liverpool came up with an inital offer of €40 million + add ons but is reported by Mundo Deportivo that the La Liga champions are looking for a deal closer to €50 million. Team captain Jordan Henderson, Spanish ace Thiago Alcantara, and Fabinho are almost a lock in Klopp's starting XI, and adding saul in the mix will surely give the German a headache when picking the starters.

But not so fast Reds' fans, FC Barcelona are also keeping an eye on Saul, with an interesting swap deal with French superstar Antoine Griezman said to be on their minds. Manager Ronald Koeman, having disposed Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic, and Arturo Vidal last summer, needs to further reduce the wage bill of the club and could save a significant amount of money by getting rid of Griezmann's massive salary.

Both of these clubs are among the biggest in the world therefore it is certainly a win for Saul wherever he ends up signing. Having to play in the Premier league will allow him to showcase his talents in a different stage. Staying in Spain but going to rivals Barcelona would make him compete for a midfield spot in the starting XI but would also give him a chance to play with arguably the best player of all time in Lionel Messi.
