Riot Games just announced that the League of Legends mobile game Wild Rift will soon have its own esports environment.

Wild Rift Worlds Tournament: Later this year

A tweet from LoL Esports Twitter account announced an exciting little teaser for the League of Legends community. According to the tweet, Wild Rift esports tournaments will be kicking off this summer.

“Esports tournaments will kick off this summer with regional competition that will qualify teams from around the world into our first-ever international tournament later this year,” reads the tweet. “More info coming soon.”

The tweet doesn't give out too many details. Instead, its purpose is to tease the arrival of Wild Rift‘s esports scene. It's an exciting development, especially since the game has been very fun to play on mobile. “More info coming soon,” says the tweet, reeling us in wanting for more news.

We'll update this article as soon as more details come to light. Right now, the tweet leads us to believe that its own version of the Worlds Tournament will be coming to Wild Rift this year. If not, then regional international events at the very least.

Meanwhile, just like what some responses on the tweet remarked, the game hasn't even been released to the entire world yet. It's then very ironic that the LoL Esports account would talk about an international tournament. If anything, it sure won't be as inclusive as many would want it to be. We can just hope that Wild Rift will be released to more countries – if not all – by then.
