It was just a matter of time… Vytautas, the professional Lithuanian team LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball play for, was blown out yesterday 118-96 by Zalgiris Kaunas in a Lithuanian League game. LaVar's sons came off the bench and did as much as they could to get the team a win. LiAngelo led the team with 25 points and LaMelo added 19. LaVar Ball is taking this situation further than basketball and claimed to be personally offended by Vytautas coach Virginijus Seskus' decision to bring his sons off the bench.

According to Lithuanian journalist Donatas Urbonas, the elder Ball said after the game:

“I'm a guy about loyalty. If my sons come to practice every day… We're friendly, we have a nice friendship, they work hard. But you put guys who didn't practice for the game before my boys? I don't care about the game no more. I'm thinking about the loyalty right now. He showed me how much our friendship is worth.”

A case where a player's father gets mad because he feels his son's coach hurt their friendship by not giving him a starting spot is unprecedented. Ball continued:

“I'm really mad at a coach. I thought our friendship was better than that. I'll say hi to him, but I'm not going to be his buddy anymore because he threw my friendship through the window. I'm not talking to him. I ain't ready for any explanations no more.”

Apparently, Ball feels as if he is the owner, GM, or a team scout to give Seskus orders:

“We could win this game easily, but the coach doesn't have confidence to let my boys do what they do. I told him the recipe how to win. If you don't want to take that, it tells me you don't want to win.”

It won't be a surprise to see both LaMelo and LiAngelo as starters for the team's next game. Their dad always gets what he wants, and nobody knows how he does it.
