The SMU Mustangs once had a great college football program. It was so good, in fact, most people realized something evil must have been up. There was and the governing body of college sports gave them the death penalty for it.

History is history, though. The past is in the past for a reason. And now the Mustangs plan on leaving all that nonsense documented in one of those ESPN 30 for 30s behind them.

As for its current incarnation of the football program, SMU is getting a lot better over the years. How it has done that is beyond this Internet Scribbler, but the Mustangs are no longer a cellar-dweller type or program.

With this (relative) success comes money. When more money comes in, it goes to the players.

LOL. I kid. Money doesn't go to the labor in college sports, it goes to new fancy lockers! Here they are:

As noted in that tweet, the lockers won't go up until the season is over.

Here is another picture for you to digest:

For what it is worth, those pictures feature mock-ups of the lockers that will be installed. They are not literally the new lockers.

Interestingly, the Mustangs are using the same company that in-state rival Texas had do their $10,000-per-locker renovation earlier this year.

While the SMU version does share many similarities with what Texas did with its, it is unlikely that the Mustangs yet have the kind of cash to be hanging with the Longhorns.

Texas, baby. Where bigger is better… or something.
