Lou Williams' Net Worth in 2022, Lou Williams net worth

Lou Williams' net worth in 2022 is $16 million. This is according to numerous reputable sources, including Wealthy Gorilla.

Louis Tyrone Williams was born in Memphis, Tennessee before moving to Atlanta, Georgia. There, he played for South Gwinnet High School at Snellville. He had a sensational HS career, with 2 Mr. Basketball awards, a Naismith Player of The Year, a McDonald's All-American selection, and a whole host of other amateur honors.

He was deemed a five-star recruit while being ranked the number 3 shooting guard in the nation. He then opted to declare for the 2005 NBA Draft straight out of high school.

Despite a great HS career, Williams had disappointing pre-draft workouts which led to him falling all the way to the 2nd round. He was eventually selected by the Philadelphia 76rs with the 45th overall pick.

He did not start off well in the league, averaging just below 2 points a game. Lou spent his first years in Philly alternating between the first team and Fort Worth Flyers (the Sixers' Developmental League affiliate). However, he vastly improved in his third season as he put up 11.5 points and 3.2 assists (from 4.3 and 1.8 the previous one). This was the season where he showed his true potential to be a spark plug off the bench, as he put up good stats in 80 appearances with 0 starts.

This got him a contact extension worth $25 million good for 5 years. Obviously, this helped to add to Lou Williams' net worth in 2022.

Sweet Lou continued to put up similar stats for the rest of his 4 years with Philly, without having a single start in all but just 1 season. For his entire tenure with the Sixers as their designated 6th man, he averaged 13.3 points and 3.4 assists. Williams' best season in a Sixers shirt was in the 2011-12 season, wherein he led the Playoff-bound team in scoring with 14.9 a game while coming off the bench. He was just a runner-up for 6th Man of the Year, however.

At the end of his contract with Philly, Williams signed with his hometown Atlanta Hawks. He averaged 14.1 points in his first year with the Hawks although it was a season to forget as he tore his ACL in the middle of the season. Th following season was a down year for him as well, only scoring 10.4 points on 40% efficiency.

Lou would get unceremoniously traded to the Toronto Raptors for John Salmons and a 2nd rounder. He came back with a vengeance, however, as he put up a then-career-high 15.5 PPG  to finally win his first 6th Man of the Year award. He is the first Toronto Raptor to ever win the award.

Off to the Lakers he went, as he penned a 3-year, $21 million deal to play in Los Angeles. Although he never won anything with the Lakers, he did have some memorable moments. He notably scored a carer-high 44 points in a clutch performance against the Oklahoma City Thunder. His time at LA was, however, cut short by a deal that sent him to the Houston Rockets for Cory Brewer in another nothing trade.

He was subsequently used as a trade piece for the Rockets to acquire Chris Paul from the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2017 offseason.

Incredibly, this would be turn out to be the best season of his career thus far. Early into the season, Lou was already dropping a 42-point bomb against his formers old team in the Los Angeles Lakers. He'd also drop 35 against the Washington Wizards before the year was over, including a go-ahead three-pointer off the dribble. Not even a month later, he'd destroy the Golden State Warriors with a career-high 50-piece (the highest single-game points by a single Clipper since 1990). He finished the season with averages of 22.6 points and 5.3 assists, good enough to win his second 6th Man of the Year award in convincing fashion.

This season was truly a special one for Sweet Lou. He was rewarded with a 3-year, $24 million deal in the middle of it.

Lou repaid the Clips' faith by carrying on with his dominant bench scoring next season. He averaged 20 points to be the Clippers' best scorer once Tobias Harris got traded midseason. There was no one stopping Williams from grabbing his 2nd consecutive 6MOY award in the 2018-19 season, and his third overall. He joined Jamal Crawford as the only 2 players in NBA history to win the award three times.

Williams went on to compete for the award once again in the 2019-20 season, as he averaged a lower 18.2 points and a career0best 5.6 assists. However, he would lose the award to fellow Clipper Montrezl Harrell. None of it mattered for the Clippers, however, who were knocked out in the conference semifinals as the favorites after leading the series 3-1.

Williams finally cooled down in the 2020-21 season, where he averaged just 12.1 points before getting traded halfway into the season to return to the Atlanta Hawks. It turned out quite well for Williams, as he reached an unlikely Eastern Conference Finals berth with the Hawks as the 5 seed. This was the first time that he reached the Conference Finals in his career.

The 35-year-old veteran is now signed to the Hawks on a 1-year, $5 million deal.

Sweet Lou has served as inspiration to younger players after having a successful (and lucrative) career coming off the bench. The vet might already be playing his last years in the league, but what a career he has had already; he is right up there with the likes of Jamal Crawford and Manu Ginobili as the finest 6th men in the history of the league.

With that, were you stunned at all with Lou Williams' net worth in 2022?
