The Louisville Cardinals stay losing in the wake of the FBI looming in the shadows. 4-star talent in the 2018 recruiting class, David Johnson, has announced that he is backing out of his commitment to the program.

“I've decided that I'll be reopening my recruitment,” Johnson told Scout.

Obviously, this isn't incredibly shocking. Most people fully expect Louisville to face relatively heavy sanctions from the NCAA at some point. To be a top-tier recruit, knowing that, it would be weird to stay committed to a program that might not be legally allowed to go dancing in March.

The Cardinals have been in the news regularly over the last two weeks. From everything involving Rick Pitino (which has been a TON), to suspending Brian Bowen, to players backing out of commitments, the program is probably not thrilled with the press it has been receiving.

There has been some strange support for the players, though. During last weekend's football game, the crowd gave a standing ovation to the basketball players. David Padgett, the program's interim head coach, led the Cardinals’ basketball team to the field on Saturday and stood in the end zone as the almost 48,000 football spectators rose to their feet to honor the group.

It was surreal, if we are being honest.

Louisville won't be the only team to face these kind of hardships on the recruiting trail. As the NCAA continues to piggyback off the FBI's investigation, with more sanctions around the corner for other programs, we can see mass de-commitments from the nation's best players.
