After four years, Chris Mack is out as the head coach of the Louisville Men's Basketball program amid the team's struggles this season.

Following his firing, Mack reacted to the whole situation. Via Dalton Godbey:

Louisville is just 11-9 right now and 5-5 in ACC play, losing five of their last six games. Mack took over the program in 2018 and led the Cardinals to the NCAA tournament in 2019. In 2020, they finished in second place in the ACC. The team also dropped two straight games recently to Virginia and Notre Dame, which certainly didn't help Mack's case.

Aside from their struggles, it appears he was partially let go due to the scandal with former Louisville assistant coach Dino Gaudio. Basically, Gaudio tried to extort Mack for money after he was canned and the school eventually suspended Mack for the first six games of this season for allegedly breaking program violations.

Chris Mack has a $12 million buyout and will now be on the lookout for a new job. Based on the reaction of senior forward Malik Williams after Saturday's loss when he was asked if the team was still listening to the Louisville coaching staff, it seems as Mack's time with the Cardinals was truly up.

“I don't have a comment for that,” Williams said after a long pause, via ESPN.

New beginnings for Louisville.
