The Philadelphia Eagles have holes to fill. Adding speed and playmaking to the wide receiver corps is a must in the offseason, so is revamping their pass-rush and potentially adding a bit more youth to their offensive line. However, there is one need that stands out above the rest: secondary.

Since winning the Super Bowl in 2017, the Eagles have fielded subpar secondaries riddled with aging, injuries, and ineffective play. Though they can't do anything about that now, they can come April and the 2020 NFL Draft.

With the No. 15 overall pick (where Philadelphia is currently slated to pick), the Eagles likely won't be in range to draft Ohio State standout cornerback Jeff Okudah or LSU enforcing safety Grant Delpit. However, the pick may buy them their own marquee secondary prospect: LSU cornerback Kristian Fulton.

Fulton, 21, carries prototypical cornerback size at 6-foot-1 and 192 pounds. The size carries over to his game, as he excels in using his length in press situations. Draft experts rave of him due to his ability to play man — whether it be bump-and-run, off-man, or bail — and aggression when attacking passes.

Said DraftNetwork's Jonah Tuls:

A natural athlete and easy mover. Fluidity is evident in his ability to consistently mirror and match receivers in man coverage. Possesses blend of foot quickness, COD skills, and long speed to stay in phase both vertically and laterally. Aggressively drives on the ball from his plant with impressive closing speed. Not fazed when forced to play with his back to the ball. Has little difficulty finding and attacking the ball over his shoulder at the catch point. Plays with control and patience at both the LOS and in his pedal.”

In 2019, as a starter for the Tigers, Fulton has recorded 25 combined tackles, an interception, and a pass deflection. According to Pro Football Focus, he was the highest-graded cornerback returning to the SEC in 2019.

Fulton has the rare ability to be a true lockdown cornerback in the NFL. His upside is an All-Pro-type player who can shadow the opposer's best wide receiver. However, he's not quite there yet, in large part due to his tackling deficiencies and frame that could add some muscle to it. He also has off the field concerns, as he was suspended for 2017 due to a failed drug test.

Nonetheless, Fulton is an extremely high-upside cornerback that can completely change around the Eagles' secondary for the better. Considering their need at the position, he may be too good to pass up come April.
