Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers have decided to hire former Oklahoma and Notre Dame defensive back coach and co-defensive coordinator Kerry Cook to the LSU staff. Cook's specific role isn't decided yet but he will be an assistant on Brian Kelly's LSU staff.

This is a great hire by Kelly as Cooks has plenty of experience coaching at the highest level of college football. LSU is looking to get back to their winning ways so hiring coaches who have that type of experience will certainly be a step in the right direction. The Tigers are having a disappointing season this year, but Kelly is going to look to turn that around. Anything short of a national championship for LSU is a disappointment and Kelly will certainly hear about it if he can't deliver one for the Tigers.

LSU got some disappointing news on Tuesday as they found out that their starting quarterback and his younger brother, who is a four-star recruit, will not be staying at LSU as they both plan to leave. It's going to be interesting to see how many more kids either de-commit or enter the transfer portal after the hiring of coach Kelly. Many people believe that he is a great football coach, but not a great person and that is something that recruits and current players are going to keep in mind.

This hiring was a great first step by the Tigers but there is much more work to do if they want to get back to their usual ways.
