The LSU Tigers officially announced the hiring of former Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach Brian Kelly on Tuesday morning. But even before that was made official, Kelly had updated his Twitter profile to reflect the move from South Bend to Baton Rouge, which was reported on Monday night.

Check it out:

This change apparently came right after Kelly held an extremely brief meeting with his Notre Dame squad on Tuesday morning:

Kelly seemingly caught Notre Dame players and coaches off guard with the decision to leave for LSU. The coach sent his players a message on Monday night after the rumors blasted through social media, announcing the 7 a.m. meeting that took just over 10 minutes.

LSU is giving Kelly a 10-year, $95 million contract plus incentives. That's not quite the $15 million a year deal that had been floated earlier, but it's still a hefty amount as college football coaches continue to get absolutely massive deals.

Kelly has big shoes to fill as he replaces Ed Orgeron, who led the Tigers to a national title just two seasons ago with Joe Burrow at the helm at quarterback. LSU stumbled the last couple of seasons after winning it all, leading to Orgeron's departure and Kelly's hire.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame still has a chance to reach the College Football Playoff. The fact that Kelly is leaving that opportunity for a rebuilding LSU program is quite an eye-opener.
