LSU Tigers head coach Brian Kelly doesn't think the school is losing out on NIL deals and getting outbid for players.

Speaking to reporters on the opening news conference for the SEC media days, Kelly pushed back on the talks that the university is underfunded. In contrast, the former Notre Dame tactician expressed his confidence that they remain “as competitive as anybody else” when it comes to their NIL dealings.

“First of all, I don’t know that we don’t have as many funds. Nobody has given me any documentation that we’re behind,” Kelly shared, per AL.com. “I feel very comfortable, quite honestly, as I stand here talking to you, what we’re doing relative to NIL is as competitive as anybody else.”

Brian Kelly, who took over the Tigers' football program back in November, also pointed out that the NIL is not about being outbid. He did emphasize, however, that he wants to learn more about it in order to fully utilize it for their players.

“I don’t feel like we’re being outbid by anybody. I don’t think that’s the place of NIL anyway, so if we were being outbid, we’re going to be outbid if we had $50 million in our collective. I don’t feel hamstrung by that,” Kelly explained.

“I want to continue to educate with NIL. I want to be able to use the resources wisely to promote name, image and likeness and have that available for our student-athletes when the time comes.”

While NIL could be a concern for LSU and some teams, it doesn't look like it's bother Brian Kelly. As he mentioned, no issue has been raised towards him. With that, he's focusing on his main task at hand, and rightfully so.

The LSU Tigers open their 2022 season on September 4 when they face Florida State. Certainly, Kelly would want to get the season started on the right note.
