The NFL world lost a legend this past December. Former championship-winning head coach and iconic broadcaster John Madden passed away, leaving many fans and players saddened by the news. Madden's impact on the NFL can't be overstated, as his zeal for football and personality as an analyst after his coaching career made him a cultural icon. Not only that, but his voice became instantly recognizable as part of EA Sports' Madden NFL video game franchise, which featured him on the game's first cover.

Now, the latest installment of the game, Madden NFL 23, will again feature the former Raiders head coach on the cover, as revealed on Twitter:

What an awesome move by EA Sports. Many called for John Madden to be on the cover of the video game in 2023, and they made it happen. However, he won't just be on the cover of Madden NFL 23.

The iconic head coach and broadcaster's voice will be used in Madden NFL 23 for the first time in over a decade with remastered audio clips.

In a tribute to Madden, EA Sports will also feature a Madden vs. Madden experience, which will pit two teams of “All-Madden athletes” against each other in the 1970 Oakland Coliseum, the site of the former head coach's AFL Championship.

In addition to honoring the NFL legend in the game, EA is donating funds from a $5 million donation to four education nonprofits as well as to an EA Madden Scholarship, which will support graduates at 12 Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
