With the Los Angeles Lakers heading into their first offseason under the helm of new management led by Team President Magic Johnson, the organization is looking for any means possible to put the team in the best position to succeed.

During an interview for “Afternoons with Marcellus and Kelvin” on ESPN LA 710 radio, Johnson once again touched upon Kobe Bryant‘s involvement with the franchise that includes evaluating their current group of players.

“We are happy that Kobe wants to be a part of the Lakers' organization. First of all, I extended that invitation and Rob did too. Right now, we are just picking his brain about the players because Kobe played with a lot of the guys we have. Then we are picking his brain about some of the things that he sees we could maybe do. Then last but not least, some of the players have reached out to him and want to work out with him because everybody knows he's famous for his workouts. We're excited about whatever he wants to do. Whatever time he wants to give, we're happy to take that time because Kobe is a Hall of Famer.”

The addition of Bryant could help provide Johnson with some much-needed perspective on the Lakers' current core group of players. He played alongside Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle, D'Angelo Russell, and Larry Nance Jr. all for at least one season.

During his 20-year NBA career, Bryant was regarded as one of the brightest players in the league and his insight on the team could prove to be quite beneficial. Another way he could provide help is by working out with a few of the Lakers' players as both Russell and Brandon Ingram have already expressed interest in working with the future NBA Hall of Famer over the offseason.

Ultimately, it will be interesting to see how much influence the five-time NBA champion will have on the Lakers' decision-making process moving forward with Johnson in charge.
