Los Angeles Lakers point guard and second overall pick Lonzo Ball is drawing comparisons to a number of NBA legends.

Many scouts saw a bit of Nets legend Jason Kidd in the UCLA guard due to his versatility, court vision, and all-around play at the point-guard spot.

The hype around Lonzo is increasing each day, mainly due to his play, but also in part because of his father, LaVar Ball. LaVar constantly hypes up his son, increasing the pressure on Lonzo to be as great as everyone expects him to be.

Also on the hype train is Magic Johnson, new Lakers team president.

Johnson was a versatile player himself as the leader of the Showtime Lakers, amassing a huge number of triple-doubles over the course of his career. Now, as an executive, one of Johnson's first major decisions was to help choose the second overall pick for LA.

In the end, Johnson went with the UCLA guard who he watched on two occasions, per Greg Beacham of Associated Press. One of those occasions was the UCLA-Oregon game, where Ball dominated:

The Bruins won that game thanks to some late-game heroics by Ball, who scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds, especially dominating in the second half. Performances like that one catapulted Ball above the other talent in the draft.
