Soon-to-be free agent Aaron Gordon didn't mince words when asked if he'd prefer a max contract from the Orlando Magic once free agency hits on July 1.

“Yeah definitely but we’ll see how it goes,” Gordon said when asked if he’d still like a max contract at the premiere of the Uncle Drew movie in New York City, according to ESPN's Ian Begley.

Gordon will be a restricted free agent, but the Magic could easily wrap up conversations before any teams extend an offer sheet by offering an unmatchable five-year, $148 million deal.

The Arizona product got off to a rousing start to his season but tailed off in the latter part of the campaign — still showing significant enough progress in his all-around game to be considered a franchise player.

Yet Gordon has remained relatively nonchalant about his free agency stint, knowing he'll garner plenty of interest as one of the prized young assets of this 2018 free agent class.

“Whatever Orlando wants to do,” said Gordon. “As a restricted free agent, I completely trust (management).”

Asked if he'd prefer to pen a deal with the Magic, putting an end to a rather stressful process — Gordon didn't pull back.

“Hopefully we just get it wrapped up with Orlando,” he said. “That would be fantastic,”

Gordon averaged a career-high 17.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 58 games last season.
