The Orlando Magic managed to have an impressive game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but the win was dampened by the fact that Steve Clifford fell ill during the game. He was rushed to the hospital and wasn't in the stadium when Aaron Gordon and the team won 132-118.

The team was naturally worried about the condition of their head coach and sent out their concerns for him. Gordon had a sincere message for Clifford as he recovers in the hospital. He shared that the team was disorganized without their head coach.

Per Magic writer John Denton:

“We were a little bit more disorganized and much more chaotic without (Clifford). His health comes first, we’re looking out for him and praying for him.”

It's been a tough couple of years for Clifford and his family. This isn't the first time Clifford was confined during an NBA season. During the time he was the head coach of the Charlotte Hornets, he also had to be taken to the hospital during the 2017-18 season. He had to sit out of his coaching duties for a month as he recovered.

Clifford talked about his illness, as written by CBS Sports' Jack Maloney:

“A headache hit me so bad that I was shaking, and my head was pounding. I knew I was in trouble, so I just called (assistant coach) Pat (Delany) and said, ‘You're going to have to do shootaround,'” Clifford remembered. “I went out to drive home because I only lived four blocks away (from Charlotte's arena) and once I sat down in my car, I knew it wouldn't be smart for me to drive. So, I just walked home.”

“Let's put it this way, my first year (the 2013-14 season) there (in Charlotte) I had to have a couple of heart stints put in and I only missed one game. When this happened, I knew I couldn't coach for a while. It was really scary for me.”

Hopefully, Clifford recovers and won't have to stay out of the team for a month.
