The Orlando Magic plan to make Nikola Vucevic's return to the team their top priority during the offseason. The eighth-year center had his best season yet, averaging a studly 20.8 points and 12 rebounds per game this past season:

“Bringing Vooch back is a priority,” said president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman, according to Roy Parry of he Orlando Sentinel. “That being said, Vooch is going to have a lot of teams who will make him a priority for them, too. We will meet with his representatives at the appropriate time.

“Hopefully we can get something done. It’s the NBA, and I always say there’s a lot of real estate between the intentions and what gets done.”

Vucevic at one point feared for his future in Orlando, as well as some of his teammates', as the team showed few signs of improvement heading into the trade deadline.

The 7-footer noted the Magic needed to show promise in hopes to remain intact through the deadline, which they did just in time. Orlando finished seventh in the East with a record just above .500 (42-20), though the Magic could choose to make changes if their improved big man doesn't come at the right price:

“Obviously I’ve had a great seven years here, but at the same time, we’ll see what happens,” Vucevic said. “It’s a mutual decision, and it’s not just me. They have to decide what they want to do. Based on that, we’ll go from there.

“I wish I knew what would happen. I wish I had a contract in hand. It would be all over right now.”

The 28-year-old center posted career highs in points, rebounds and assists (3.8), all while becoming an All-Star for the first time this season.
