Orlando Magic head coach Steve Clifford was hospitalized with an illness on Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Clifford was examined by doctors at the arena and will get an additional precautionary look at a local Minneapolis hospital, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. The Magic were already planning to stay overnight in Minnesota.

Clifford had two stents put in his heart in 2013, but there’s no indication that this is a heart-related issue.

The Magic defeated the Timberwolves by a final score of 132-118. Orlando is now 28-35 on the season, firmly holding the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference Standings.

Clifford is in his second season with the Magic. He guided the franchise to the playoffs in the 2018-19 campaign, during which Orlando lost to the Toronto Raptors in the first round in five games.

Here's to hoping that Steve Clifford is fine and will be able to recover soon to re-join the team. The Magic get a one-day break before returning to action on Sunday against the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center. The team then heads to FedEx Forum to play the young Memphis Grizzlies followed by a two-game home stretch against the Chicago Bulls and Charlotte Hornets.
