When he embarked on his journey to the NBA, Orlando Magic point guard Cole Anthony sought advice from one of the league's best floor generals. According to the Marc Berman of the New York Post, Anthony talked with New York Knicks point guard Kemba Walker before the 2020 draft.

“I talked to Kemba a little bit before I was drafted,’’ said Anthony at the Magic’s morning shootaround Friday “I wanted to pick his brain. We’re both from New York. I just wanted to see what it takes to be successful. I’d say he’s done really, really well for himself. So I just wanted to pick his brain and get a little bit of knowledge from him.’’

Anthony was previously thought to be a sensical Knicks target entering the 2020 draft. New York needed a point guard and Cole's father, Greg Anthony, spent the first four seasons of his career as a Knick and was a member of the Eastern Conference-winning squad in 1994.

Ultimately, the Knicks passed on Anthony with their eighth overall pick and he was chosen 15th overall by the Magic. In 47 games his rookie season, Anthony averaged 12.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. His averages were among the better marks for rookies in his class but he was not selected to an All-Rookie team, which he took exception to.

Anthony will get the chance to face Walker and his hometown team tonight at 7:00 in Madison Square Garden.
