It was a disappointing night for Evan Fournier and the Orlando Magic as they failed to secure a much-needed win against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. Simply put, it was the Cavs who were the hungrier side on the evening, as they were able to defend their home floor against the visiting Magic, 107-93.

Following the frustrating defeat, Fournier could not help but rant about the attitude his team carried throughout the contest:

“It’s another bad loss, man & I feel like we were too casual with everything,” he said, via Magic insider John Denton. “Too casual on defense, too casual on offense & the execution wasn’t good enough on both ends. It never felt like we never had any juice or energy & never built momentum.”

Perhaps this was a classic case of underestimating a struggling Cavs side, as the Magic were the outright favorites to win this Eastern Conference matchup. There was obviously no sense of urgency for Orlando in this one, as they probably assumed that they were going to emerge victorious in the contest even before it started.

Despite how bad they've been this season, there's just no excuse for underestimating a hungry Cavs side — and any team in the NBA, for that matter.

Unfortunately for the Magic, this was exactly what transpired on Sunday as they saw their record fall to 30-35, and in the process, opened up the race for the final few spots in the East's playoffs picture. Orlando are still sitting on the eighth spot at the moment, but the Charlotte Hornets and the Miami Heat are hot on their tracks, with just half a game separating the three teams.
