Orlando Magic point guard Markelle Fultz says he never changed his jump shot because of the injuries he dealt with at the beginning of his career.

Fultz, whose NBA career got off to a rocky start with the Philadelphia 76ers, seems to have found a home with the Magic:

“I didn't change my shot,” Fultz told Mirin Fader of Bleacher Report. “I wasn't able to go through a range of motion. The biggest thing was knowing that I knew what I had to do, but my body wouldn't let me do it until I had a certain strength, so it was training my mind and my body to put everything back together.”

The Magic made a low-risk, high-reward-type of move last season when they traded for Fultz from the Sixers. So far, Fultz is playing well for the team.

While the release point of his jump shot looks low, Fultz is shooting the ball with more fluidity now and getting to the basket at will. He is averaging 11.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.2 assists in 58 games for the Magic this season while shooting 46.4 percent from the field, 24.8 percent from beyond the arc and 74.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Magic exercised their fourth-year team option on Fultz for the 2020-21 season, a good sign that the franchise is invested in him.

Orlando is 27-32 on the season. They are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings.
