Orlando Magic head coach Steve Clifford says point guard Markelle Fultz will play in Orlando's preseason opener against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday.

It will be Fultz's first NBA action since Nov. 19, 2018.

Fultz has fully recovered from Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. The Magic believe the former No. 1 overall pick can be an effective two-way player for them this season.

Orlando acquired Fultz from the Philadelphia 76ers at the 2019 February trade deadline. He has career NBA averages of 7.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 41.4 percent from the field, 26.7 percent from beyond the arc and 53.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Fultz has only played in 33 NBA games due to scapular muscle imbalance in his right shoulder and Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. The Magic, though, exercised their fourth-year team option on Fultz for the 2020-21 season, indicating the franchise believes in the guard and his long-term outlook.

Fultz worked diligently in recent months under the careful supervision of at least two members of the Magic's player-development staff. His jump shot, while the release point looks low, is more fluid now.

Needless to say, everyone in Orlando is anxious to watch Fultz play on Saturday. The NBA community is rooting for the kid since the start of his career has been rocky.
