New season, new threads for the Orlando Magic.

Although the Magic disappointed their fans last season wherein they finished with a 29-53 record, that’s not going to disqualify them from enjoying fresh kits made by Nike.

Orlando’s uniforms are of the “Association” and “Icon” variety, which basically are just fancier ways of renaming home and road jerseys, respectively.

There are differences from the old versions of the uniforms though they are very minimal with those involved in designing clearly opting to keep the look as classic as possible. Perhaps the most notable detail as far as the uniforms’ makeup is concerned is the materials used to create them. Per Fox Sports, used plastic bottles were part of the choice ingredients.

The uniforms were developed through a collaborative effort between the NBA, its players, and Nike. The uniforms are comprised of recycled PET bottles, a combination of Alpha Yarns and recycled polyester (each uniform represents approximately 20 recycled bottles).

The future of the Magic won’t be determined by the aesthetics of their new threads, but hopefully it will inspire them enough to avoid getting dressed down by opponents this coming season.
