Orlando Magic head coach Steve Clifford had high praises for veteran guard DJ Augustin, the hero of their Game 1 victory against the Toronto Raptors.

In an interview with John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com, Clifford said that he believes Augustin was wise to take the shot because he knew he could make it.

“Taking what the defense gives you. I believe in the last three years, he's top five in the NBA in shooting threes off the dribble. So that was right in his wheelhouse.”

DJ Augustin finished with 25 points, two rebounds and six assists as he helped the Magic take the 104-101 lead against the Raptors.

The 11-year veteran, who's shooting 42.1 percent from beyond the arc this season, made four of his five 3-point attempts against the Raptors.

Despite the win, Augustin said that Orlando should not be complacent, as he expects the Raptors to play better in Game 2 on Tuesday.

Orlando ended the regular season as the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference. Beating the second-seeded Toronto was already a tall order right from the beginning, but they were to do it. Now, they have an opportunity to put their opponents' backs against the wall in Game 2.

Augustin will need to play big anew if the Magic wants to head to Orlando up 2-0.
